There are many Laws in Nature and Homeopathy is based on natural laws.

The first Law of homeopathy is the Law of the Simillimum.

Hahnemann discovered through his studies that if a healthy person took a substance and the symptoms produced by this substance were recorded, then it was possible to cure another person suffering from similar symptoms with that substance.


Paracelsus discovered that Similia Simibilus Curantur (like cures like), and Hahnemann built upon this law. There was plenty of evidence that remedies already used in folk medicine worked in this way. (The Doctrine of Signatures.)

Hahnemann found when he tested a Scottish doctor's theory about quinine; it was able to produce symptoms that appeared to be malaria. These symptoms would pass, but with each repetition of a dose would reappear. (China). It was this important discovery that symptoms that appeared in a healthy person could be used to cure symptoms found in disease.


Bee stings which produce burning, stinging, lancinating pains and rapid swelling. The patient may be worse for hot applications. There may be stiffness, constriction, and difficulty in breathing. These symptoms can also be found in diseases such as rheumatism, meningitis or kidney disease, so it is possible to treat the person with a homeopathically prepared remedy made from the venom of a bee. The bite of the Tarantula spider results in suffocation, blackness of the skin and a dancing mania, which recurs annually. It is alleviated by music, hence the dance, the Spanish Tarantella came about to help victims of the bite recover. Restlessness, hysteria, alternating laughter and tears & twitching can also be experienced after a bite from this spider. The berries of the Deadly Nightshade are highly toxic. The symptoms are dilated pupils, dry, bright red skin, (which is smooth like sunburn) and a scarlet face. These are the symptoms of Scarlet fever and many fevers that come on very suddenly with red, hot symptoms respond to homeopathic Belladonna.
